At our lab, we aim to understand how complex changes in processes related to learning and memory, attention and emotion contribute to social, emotional, and behavioral difficulties in patients with mental disorders. To this end, we combine various methodologies including behavioural, genetic, pharmacological, and neurochemical approaches to assess the respective processes across different species, i.e. rats, mice and humans. To bridge the gap between basic and clinical research, we also conduct translational studies with the overall aim to develop novel and/or refine treatment options for patients with mental disorders.
